Why We Have the 20/20 Commitment
Dr. Luke's Journey Through LASIK
															Dr. Luke in his 20s.
“I Hated My Glasses and Contacts”
When I was in my early 20s, I had been told I wasn’t a candidate for LASIK for a variety of reasons. The problem was that I hated my glasses and contacts!
Contacts never fit well and were uncomfortable. I also never felt that I saw well out of my glasses. They were awkward and got in the way.
Finally, once I was in medical school I found out that with modern technology I WAS a candidate. I used the last of my money at the end of medical school to get LASIK as I knew I was about to work 80+ hour weeks in residency, and glasses and contacts were just going to get in the way.
I walked out of that procedure being able to SEE – at least it seemed that way. As you can imagine, I’m a perfectionist, and it turned out to not be perfect.
Something Wasn’t Right
Unfortunately, my right eye just wasn’t right. It just didn’t see as well as the left. I went back to the LASIK practice, and they said I’d need to pay more to have my right eye “fixed.”
I didn’t have the money to do so at that point and would have to wait YEARS to have it fixed, which I finally did. I told myself at that point that I would specialize in vision correction and make sure that every patient I treated would get the vision they deserved. There would be no “bait and switch.”
That’s right. I care far more about your vision than anything else. That’s why we invest in the best technology and staff available. It’s not cheap, but we know your eyes are worth it.
