Understanding LASIK?

How does a laser improve your vision? LASIK corrects the shape of your cornea so that light focuses better on your retina. This is how it fixes your refractive errors and improves your visual acuity. In the procedure, a thin flap is made on your cornea using a femtosecond laser. This flap is lifted, and an excimer laser reshapes the corneal tissue underneath. Finally, the flap is placed back, and your eye starts to heal, all without stitches.

Our eye surgeons at ClearSight Oklahoma City are highly trained, and our technology is cutting-edge. We focus on making sure you’re comfortable and safe during the whole process.

We also offer thorough eye exams to make sure LASIK is the right option for you. These tests look at things like corneal thickness and overall eye health.

So, LASIK isn’t just about improving your vision; it’s about improving your life.

What If I’m Not a LASIK Candidate?

That’s okay. Between ClearSight and our sister practice 43Vision located in the same clinic, you have the full range of modern vision correction procedures and LASIK alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions About LASIK OKC

Will it hurt?

Most people feel slight pressure, but eye drops numb the area to minimize pain. We understand many people are nervous about vision correction surgery, but rest assured, we’ve guided thousands of nervous patients through the procedures and they consistently say, “Why did I wait so long to get it?”

Is it all-laser

Yes, we use a femtosecond laser for flap creation and an excimer laser to reshape the cornea. Gone are the days of using a blade (microkeratome) to create the flap.

What might I feel afterward?

Some common symptoms are dry eyes and temporary visual issues, which usually get better in a few days.

What’s different about PRK and LASIK?

Both are corneal refractive surgeries, but PRK reshapes the accesses the cornea by a chemical solution that thins the lens, while with LASIK, your surgeon creates a flap to access the cornea.

Are there risks?

While generally safe, some risks like infection or inflammation are possible. By choosing a qualified surgeon with experience, like the ophthalmologists at ClearSight, you can mitigate the risk.

How does the tech work?

We use advanced lasers and technologies like mode locking and wavefront to reshape the cornea.

Will insurance cover it?

Most insurance plans don’t, but we offer convenient financing options. Don’t rent you vision correction with glasses and contact lenses when you can own it with a vision correction procedure.

What’s the aftercare like?

Taking good care of your eyes post-surgery is crucial for optimal results, and at ClearSight, we’re committed to ensuring your aftercare is as smooth as the procedure itself. Here’s what you can expect:

Prescribed Eye Drops:After your LASIK surgery, you’ll be given specialized eye drops to accelerate healing and prevent infection. Our staff will make sure you know exactly how and when to use them.
Personalized Follow-Up Appointments:We schedule prompt follow-up visits to monitor your healing process. These visits are quick but thorough, designed to catch any potential issues before they become problems.
Expert Advice on Do’s and Don’ts:You’ll receive a comprehensive guide on what you can and can’t do post-surgery. For instance, we advise against wearing eye makeup for a few days to prevent irritation or infection.
24/7 Support:Should you have any questions or concerns, our expert team is just a phone call away, no matter the time of day.
Comfort and Convenience:Our facility is designed for your comfort, and our friendly staff is always available to assist you with anything you might need during your post-op visits.
Advanced Monitoring Tools:We employ the latest technology to keep an eye on your recovery, giving you peace of mind that you’re on the right track.
Trust ClearSight for a complete and caring experience, from your initial consultation to your post-surgery aftercare. With us, you’re not just getting a procedure; you’re gaining a lifetime of clearer vision and support.
