Joe: It had to be around second or first grade, you know I got glasses. I remember early on, maybe like third grade I’d forgotten my glasses and then I couldn’t see anything after that. I was in marching band and all of that stuff, so I switched to contacts.
I remember my contact had slipped out and I was driving at night with one eye open and I’m just trying to mess with my eye. I’m like, “This sucks, this is awful, this is terrible”. So that’s really when I decided to just go ahead and go in, go for the consultation.
They put you in this chair, they give you the medicine so you don’t freak out. You look up into the machine, and you’re looking there and he puts a little medicine rub on your eyes. After that, my eyes got a little hazy because the PRK, there’s a healing process with that.
Doctor Luke’s like, “Hey, here’s my phone number, if you have any questions, text me”. I mean he’s really dedicated to making sure you feel comfortable.
It could be a catalyst that can really change your life. You get up, you go running. You don’t have to put in your contacts and think, “Oh, maybe I don’t want to do this”. What I was looking for was a boost to my quality of life, and that’s exactly what they were able to deliver on and that’s what I have right now. I feel like I’ve been lifted up from basically being blind, relying on something, and now I feel independent from that.
Life is just too short to not try and make your life the best it can be, right?
