What We Won't Do

WHAT WE WON'T DO AT CLEARSIGHT:

We won't approve you for LASIK unless we know you’re an excellent candidate. When complications have occurred with LASIK (less than 2% of over 12 million US patients), outdated technology and patients who were not good candidates in the first place were the two primary factors. Some eyes are simply not suited to LASIK. Even with today’s most advanced technology, about 30% of applicants at ClearSight are frankly advised to consider another method of vision improvement. Dr Wilson will not recommend LASIK unless he knows he can achieve the outcome you want and that LASIK can provide.

We won't rush you. We won't dilate your eyes at the Free Consultation. If you’ve ever had your eyes dilated you’ll probably expect to need a driver on the day of your LASIK Consultation. Dilating drops make your pupils really large and your vision blurry for the rest of the day, and many folks don't feel safe driving after a eye exam with dilating drops. That's why we don’t use them – instead we’ve invested in technology that actually gives us a BETTER exam for your eyes without the need for the medication.

Also, we don’t insist that you’re out of your contacts before the Consultation. Some centers want you to be contacts-free a full two weeks before they'll even tell you whether or not you're a good candidate. While it helps us if you can switch to glasses for a few days before the exam, it is not essential for determining IF you’re a good candidate – and that’s what this exam is all about.

We won't cut-rate your vision. Affordability is a factor in any elective surgery and some centers focus on this sensitive issue by offering too-good-to-be-true discounts and price cuts. While offers like $499 or $699 look good, the truth is that the technology used in these cheaper procedures is usually out-dated, and quality of outcome is the first casualty.  It is rare that anyone qualifies for these procedures anyway as the amount of vision correction provided for this price is so small that most people that require that small a correction wouldn’t have LASIK to begin with.
