Refraction
"I had 20/400 vision before surgery and now I see 20/16. That’s better than most people and it is better than I have ever seen in my whole life. You never know how much you can’t see until you get it fixed." - Charles Here is more of Charles' story: It’s interesting my vision was one of those things that I didn’t notice how bad it was until I got it fixed. I had worn contacts from about the time I was 14. My eyes had always been kind of fuzzy. I remember watching a 20/20 special with Barbara Walters a long time ago, and she said if you are thinking about having refractive surgery try to wait 5 years because the technology is just going to advance. Back then they were doing Radial Keratotomy. So I have been watching refractive surgery for a long time. I did research on two places, ClearSight Center and another place. I don’t know if I actually know anyone that has had Lasik done at ClearSight Center. But I did a lot of research on their website. They have a fantastic website. I also checked a couple of boards and stuff. I went to the first place and they were going to do PRK, which is a different procedure. I understood that it would take longer to heal and they only do one eye at a time. You trust the doctor that you are working with, so I was going to do that. But when I showed up for the procedure that morning, they said we couldn’t even do the PRK. They didn’t have the machine set up right or didn’t have the machine or something. So I drove down the street to see if ClearSight had an opening. I had the Custom IntraLase Lasik procedure that day. I researched the doctor that was going to do the procedure, so I really didn’t have a whole lot of fears. I just kind of assumed it was going to be okay. I was a little nervous getting two different stories from two different doctors. But really in the end I think either one of those situations would have worked. But I think Lasik worked out better for me. Dr. Wilson was great and everything turned out really well. I had 20/400 vision before surgery and now I see 20/16. That’s better than most people and it is better than I have ever seen in my whole life. You never know how much you can’t see until you get it fixed. It really is like HD. It’s like watching a regular channel and watching high-definition you see the same stuff, but it’s crisper, it’s clearer. You don’t see more, you see better. |
